Hi, I’m Ben Robson – the director and one of the lead designers here at Black Box Architecture. I hold a Diploma in Architectural Draughting and a Diploma in Carpentry from Otago Polytechnic, and I’m a Licensed Building Practitioner (Design Level 2).
I started my career with six years in the carpentry trade before moving into architectural design, where I’ve spent the past 15 years working across both residential and commercial projects. My background as a builder gives me a very practical approach to design – I enjoy creating plans that not only look great but also make sense on site.
I work closely with builders and clients to come up with practical solutions and fresh ideas that suit each project. I genuinely enjoy what I do and the people I get to work with. I like to keep the process calm, approachable, and collaborative – no unnecessary formality, just good communication and great design.
