Preliminary

This initial phase involves gathering key information, understanding the client’s needs, and assessing the project’s feasibility. Typical activities include site visits, stakeholder consultation, and reviewing planning or zoning constraints. The aim is to define the project brief, budget, and overall objectives.

Prior to starting any project, we conduct thorough site analysis and feasibility studies. This ensures we understand the site’s characteristics and any potential challenges or opportunities - allowing us to develop the most suitable and successful design approach.

Concept

Initial Concept

The first step where your ideas begin to take form. We translate insights from early discussions into preliminary design concepts; sketches, diagrams, or simple models that express the project vision.

This phase is fluid and exploratory, a foundation for conversation and development. It’s an opportunity to test ideas, examine spatial possibilities, and align the direction with your goals.

Once prepared, we review the concept together. Your input is essential; feedback helps us refine the design to suit your needs and ensure the project is on the right path.

Developed Concept

Building on the initial ideas and your feedback, the developed concept stage adds clarity and refinement. We resolve layout, scale, and form, while exploring material and façade options.

At this stage, functional, aesthetic, and environmental considerations are explored in more depth. Continued collaboration ensures every element aligns with your expectations.

The developed concept forms the architectural framework to progress into documentation and approvals.

Approved Concept

This milestone confirms the design meets your expectations. It’s the outcome of our collaborative process; a resolved, well-considered proposal ready for the next stage.

We understand finalising a design is a big decision. We aim to provide a supportive process with no pressure, refining until you’re fully satisfied.

Developed Design

The preferred concept is refined in detail. Floor plans, elevations, and sections are resolved, and coordination with consultants (structural, services, etc.) begins. Material options and construction methods are assessed, preparing the design for consent and costing.

Detailed Design & Documentation

This stage delivers comprehensive drawings and specifications for building consent and construction. It includes architectural documentation, consultant coordination, and integration of structural and services components.

The final output ensures the design is buildable, compliant, and ready for tendering or construction.
